Crazy Lady

Last night I was at the ticket checker position, probably an hour before I got off work. This lady comes up and before I could finish talking to the passenger before her, she cuts me off. “I have a question. How am I suppose to know that I have to take a train to N gates when nobody told me? I’m going to miss my flight now and this is my first time traveling!” Now when this lady was saying all of this, she was speaking to me as if it was MY fault that no one told her she had to take a train and it was MY responsibility to make sure she makes her flight and she had a pretty thick accent as well. She was also speaking really loud as if I couldn’t speak English when you’re the one with the accent.

I was caught off guard because she was blaming me when the sole purpose of our existence, is to make sure you get to your destination safely. “Okay…well I’m not sure what you want me to do ma’am but in order for you to get to your flight you have to go through security.” Then she repeats herself like I didn’t catch her the first time. “If I miss my flight, someone else better pay for it because I’m not!” And I repeat myself because clearly she didn’t catch me the first time. “That is something you would have to take up with the airline. We don’t know which gate is to which plane, it could also change any second.” Now she goes ballistic ”Fine then! What do you want me to do?” She starts walking in and I had to call her back since her documents weren’t even checked. Here’s the best part, she throws everything on the ground.

My coworker saw what happened so he called for a supervisor. I do not get paid enough to handle these kind of passengers so I just ignored her and continued processing passenger through the screening process.

After this lady left the checkpoint, I was told she had 30 minutes to get to her flight which is enough time since their was barely any passengers. Oh and the funny thing is she was already passed security but somehow she took the wrong train and exited the terminal. So she’s coming off as a rude bitch and making herself look like a fool because of her mistake. Makes sense. I’m still baffled how she thinks it’s our fault. If this is your first time traveling then request for an escort. Or have the airline explain it to you because we’re their to screen passengers, not to stop a plane because you’re about to miss it. We also have signs at your convenience TO READ so you know where you’re going.
